Your counsellors are Sylvia Buet and John Dunlop.
Sylvia Buet
Sylvia is a Psychologist, accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist by the British Association for Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies (BABCP). She has more than 15 years' experience in resolving complex mental health issues.
Sylvia trained at University of Valencia (Spain) in which she obtained her BSc Hons. Degree in Psychology in 1991. She holds a Masters degree in Counselling & Guidance and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the University of Ulster (UK). She is currently completing her doctorate.
She has also dedicated many years of her professional life to organising and delivering Cognitive Behavioural training for a variety of public and private organisations and individuals. Apart from working in her private practice, she works as a lecturer at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown, where she teaches Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
She is founder of the International Institute for Cognitive Therapy in the UK - www.cbtonline.biz - The Institute offers training on a range of topics related to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She was the founder of the International Trauma Institute, together with Dr. Mervin R. Smucker, offering training on PTSD and related conditions to mental health professionals all over the world.
She is also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) level II practitioner and specialises in the treatment of adults and older adolescents. She works with individuals with emotional and relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, sexual problems, stress and anger management, guilt, shame. She particularly specialises in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders such as depression, Post-traumatic Stress (PTSD), Obsessive compulsive disorder (including pure obsessions), panic disorder and generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). She has also developed a new model to deal with relationship breakups.
Counsellors have different approaches to therapy. Sylvia Buet uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and in particular of Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy as main approaches. John Dunlop
John Dunlop is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist who has more than 5 years experience in treating individuals with a varied range of emotional and psychological problems. He particularly specialises in mood and anxiety disorders such as depression, panic attacks, social anxiety, low self-esteem, PTSD and generalised anxiety disorder.
John is also a qualified Level II EMDR practitioner. He works with trauma victims of sexual and physical abuse, accidents, etc. using Cognitive Behavioural therapy and EMDR, depending on the case.
He is a very empathic and genuine counsellor who normally makes people feel very comfortable. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and is currently working towards achieving accreditation within the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies (BABCP).
