Pre-Counselling Brochure

Certainly, you do not have to be crazy to go to counselling or undergo cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). There are many reasons for seeking help and although it is normally difficult to make the decision to see a counsellor or psychotherapist, this can be a mature decision that can improve enormously your quality of life.

Anapsys Counselling Services is a private practice located in Belfast managed by Silvia Buet and John Dunlop. Sylvia is a Psychologist and an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). John and Sylvia are both qualified as Level II EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy) practitioners and Hypnotherapists.

Sylvia and John use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Beck's model) as main approach. Other CBT approaches such as Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) are also delivered depending on clients' needs within Anapsys Counselling Services. This type of CBT therapy is solution focused and it is  quite effective to deal with a broad range of psychological or emotional problems such as:

* Depression and Low mood
* Anxiety/ stress
* Post-Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) and Trauma
* Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
* Pure obsessions without rituals (violent, sexual, religious)
* Social Anxiety and low self-esteem
* Relationship break-ups
* Relationship problems (for individuals but not for couples)
* Anger, guilt and jealousy management
* Phobias (plane phobia, claustrophobia...)
* Sleep disorders
* Low self-esteem
* Treatment for sexual problems

More information on the scope of the therapy can be viewed from the counselling common questions page. Fees of our services can be accessed from our pre-counselling brochure by clicking here. If you want to contact Anapsys please click here.

Sylvia Buet is also the Director of The International Institute for Cognitive Therapy. The Institute offers cognitive behavioural (CBT) training courses for those who want to initiate a career as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist. Two CBT courses are available for 2010: a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in September 2010 and a Diploma in CBT in September 2010. Please visit the International Institute for Cognitive Therapy to obtain more information about contents of the CBT training programmes, objectives, fees, dates and requirements for entry. The Certificate in CBT is open to anyone who may have an interest in CBT. There are  no entry requirements. However, the diploma in CBT is only open to those who have a minimum of a Diploma in Counselling and have completed the Certificate in cognitive behavioural therapy first.

Both training programmes will run on weekends (one a month). Please find more information about our CBT training courses at www.learncognitivetherapy.com
